The Bullet Train to Shanghai

The 9.00AM high-speed train to Shanghai left two minutes early.

What a fabulous way to travel! You travel 1,316 km in about five hours, which is quite a contrast to, say, Moscow to Perm, which was 1,432 km and took 22 hours.

Arriving in Shanghai, I have travelled a total of 10,241 km by train since I left Helsinki.

Looking back at my extended Trans-SiberianRail journey this summer, with a total of ten legs and a detour to Tobolsk, I can report that:

– Eleven trains have left on the minute (or early)
– One train was one (1) minute late

Pretty impressive!

Anyway, gliding in at Shanghai Train Station on the bullet train from Beijing was a very stylish ending to a fantastic train journey across Russia, Mongolia and China.
